I fell in love with Lion Coffee when I was in the Navy and stationed at Pearl Harbor, HI in the 1990s. I love that I can order this DELICIOUS product with prime delivery and get a little taste of Hawaii here in Ohio every morning.
Lion is definitely the best Coconut coffee out there, but it’s the most expensive. I won’t lie, I’ve been looking for a lower price, but it doesn’t exist. If another company ever comes out with a coconut coffee, I will jump ship on Lion. Other coffee’s you can’t taste the coconut. I’ve tried them all. Don’t waste your money them.
I am a flavored coffee lover. I am a bit finicky though and like the flavor to be noticeable without tasting artificial or chemical-y (if that’s a word). I was a big fan of Green Mountain’s seasonal coconut flavor, but when I moved to FL I could no longer find it. Dunkin Donuts’ coconut, to me, is just okay but it’s more a fragrance than a flavor. I had never tried Lion, but went out on a limb and was not disappointed.
The coffee quality itself is fine – not too heavy to interfere with the coconut. I think it’s probably a lighter roast, but doesn’t give me an all-day panic attack like some brands do. The flavor though is just totally on-point. When you prep it the night before, the scent lingers in the kitchen in a pleasantly teasing way. When you wake up to it, you can’t wait to just settle into a cup and wake up.
When you reach the bottom of your to-go mug at work, you’re actually sad. It’s just that good. My only qualm? I go through it so fast and usually have not re-ordered in time to have my next bag. It does take a little while to ship from HI!
